( do not use Milk Bones- choose another more natural brand)

Ingredients:

1/2 c whole wheat flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp peanut butter
2 tbsp applesauce
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp honey
1 egg
1 tbsp water
1/2 c shredded carrot
toppings
plain greek yogurt
carrot shreds
dog treats
carob chips for garnish or use this food and sprinkle on top:
BOOST ME  real meat freeze dried raw topping
Preheat the oven to 350F
Shred your carrot first. One medium-sized carrot should give you a bit more than the 1/2 cup you need for the recipe, so you have some left over for decorating.
Mix together the flour and baking powder, then add in the peanut butter, applesauce, vanilla, honey, egg and water, and mix in evenly.  Add the carrot shreds last and loosely fold in, the texture should be slightly liquid but still relatively thick.

  • GAS RELIEF FOR DOGSDoggie farts are the worst, but they’re also a symptom of digestive upset. Probiotics, prebiotics, digestive enzymes, and gut-soothing herbs all work together to ensure food is properly digested. Consistent use helps to keep harmful bacteria – such as E. coli and salmonella – from growing in your dog’s gastrointestinal tract. In turn – a gas-free dog!
  • EASY-TO-GIVE CAPSULESMicroflora Plus is packaged in a simple capsule form, easily given with a treat. The canine probiotic powder is kept sealed to ensure each dose is as strong as the next. Even if your pet will turn their nose up at the thought of taking a pill, the capsule can be opened sprinkled over their food, served with bone broth, or mixed into a homemade treat like a meatball! Just be sure to only open the dose when you need it. You can open the capsules and sprinkle into your dog's food if needed.
  • 4-IN-1 DOG DIGESTIVE AIDMicroflora Plus includes probiotics, prebiotics, digestive enzymes and gut-soothing herbs for total gut care. Probiotics are good bacteria – living microorganisms projecting health benefits to the digestive system. Prebiotics feed the probiotics, while digestive enzymes work to break down nutrients in the gastrointestinal tract. And last but not least, the gut soothing herbs soothe the GI tract naturally. All-in-one protection for your pup!
  • VETERINARIAN RECOMMENDED Dr. Chris Bessent developed this proprietary formula in her practice based on years of experience to help dogs with gurgly guts, bad gas, anal sac issues, soft stool, and intermittent diarrhea. She even created a version for cats – Microflora Kitty! She isn’t alone in her thinking; holistic veterinarians around the country believe in Microflora Plus and choose to carry it in their practices.
  • MADE IN THE USAThis supplement was developed by a holistic veterinarian, Dr. Chris Bessent, who owns and operates Herbsmith’s two facilities in Wisconsin. It’s quality you can trust from a veterinarian with over 30 years of experience.

Loving a Pit Bull named Zeus

Patricia  Elam's testimonial of loving a Pit Bull named Zeus.

Patricia Stated, At the end of her Pit Bull's life.....

Thinking about Zeus and his transition. He has been part of my family for 11 years, so at the end of life, he is having a natural death at home with us, where he will be loved and comforted.
When he arrived at our house we were ready for a Pit Bull and wanted nothing more than for him to be loving, faithful and sociable. Little did we know how much more he added to our lives. His antics: bed nudging, asking to go outside, begging for peanut butter, tuna, chicken and Ritz Crackers.
Favorite Toys: Kong anything, ropes, and tennis balls.
Favorite Passtime: following me, messing with pet siblings, and barking to let the deliveryman know that he was a big dog.
It is truly a misconception that Pit Bulls are a mean vicious breed, strong yes, stubborn yes, protective yes but most of all loving.

Thank you to the Cozy Pet Taxi and Mr. and Mrs. Peppers

Do Not use Dawn Dish soap on your pet, please!

Why Dish Detergent Is Not Safe for Dogs
dawndishsoap.png
I have Never suggested DAWN soap.  I see it all the time and it makes me feel so upset.  PLEASE folks, don't use it.  Even if your VET tells you it's safe!
Recently someone posted on our facebook group about bathing a dog in dawn dish soap for fleas. I thought I’d mention this because I’ve seen this topic come up before about using dish soap to get rid of fleas.
I looked into it further to find many posts saying it was a natural pet care solution for flea control! Oh my....No!
Yes it is used to get oil out, kill fleas and remove odors etc. But it is far from natural in fact it is filled with chemicals and is NOT safe to use on pets. Yes, even if your vet tells you it is safe or even if other people do it all the time with no ill effects. (side effects are not immediate with these types of chemicals, in most cases- it is long-term health concerns over time that is the issue)

It is about as safe as chemical pesticides in flea sprays, over the counter flea collars, trifexis type chewable etc. and the worse kind of chemical-laden over the counter cheap shampoos. Shampoos I'd never use on my own head and certainly never on my fur kids. ( if you use any of these then you are compromising your pet's long-term health and lowering their immunity)
The purpose of using Dawn dish soap on wildlife after an oil spill is because they need to the oil removed from their bodies as quickly as possible. Otherwise, their skin cannot breathe and they will die. Dawn soap is so effective at removing oil because the chemicals in it are caustic and cut through anything basically. No wonder it kills fleas on contact.
Dawn has been known to remove the smell of skunk. A skunk's odoriferous spray has an oily substance in it that adheres to a dog's fur and skin – Dawn breaks it up, helping us to remove the majority of the spray quickly.
How come it can deal with this two very difficult situations?
The theme here is that dawn dish detergent is made with very strong chemicals that are caustic and harmful, even to humans- one of it’s ‘hidden’ ingredients which include a very harsh formaldehyde; it has to be super potent to get the grease out-which makes too harsh for sensitive skin of dogs.
Plus all the added synthetic fragrances and unnatural dyes, neither which are healthy or natural for pets.

The Environmental Working Group, known as the EWG which empowers people to live healthier lives in a healthier environment, gave Dawn dish soap a 'D' grade because it has methylisothiazolinone in it.
Which is a huge concern regarding aquatic toxicity; as well as some concern regarding skin irritations, allergies, and skin damage.
Sounds great for dogs, right? Not!
Dawn also contains 1 4-dioxane which has become a problem as a groundwater contaminant.
Another fact about Dawn soap - it is on the Mayo Clinic avoid list of household chemicals due to it containing many contaminants, including quanterium 15 which produces formaldehyde when contacts water.
Quanternium-15 is a preservative and a caustic chemical anti-microbial and a severe case of dermatitis.
It is also a teratrogen (causes birth defects in animals)
According to some experts, This ingredient is generally safe, BUT will eventually break down in the bottle, or tube, or on the skin to release formaldehyde for which the evidence of its cancer-causing properties is very real.
Of course it kills fleas! Maybe killing skin cells too.
Other Ingredients in Dawn dish soap :dawnsoapforfleas.png
  • sodium lauryl sulfate
  • sodium laurethsulfate
  • c12-14-16 dimethyl amine oxide
  • SD alcohol
  • sodium chloride
  • PPG-26, pei-14 PEG-10/PPG-7 copolymer
  • cyclohexanediamine
  • phenoxyethanol
  • magnesium chloride
  • methylisothiazolinone
  • Synthetic fragrance
  • yellow 5
  • blue 1

Why ever even consider putting this totally un-natural product on your beloved pets?
There are much safer choices for shampoos to kill fleas on dogs. Why using dawn dishsoap is passed around as some kind of natural flea treatment is beyond me.

It is definitely as harmful if not more than any chemical pesticide you might use on your dog or cat.

PLEASE STOP USING THIS PRODUCT ON YOUR PETS

Don’t you agree after seeing what is in it?
Here is one gentle and natural flea control shampoo you can use instead:

Dr. Bronners peppermint soap cut 1/3 water, 1/3 Dr. Bronners and 1/3  apple cider vinegar- this would be just as effective and totally safe, but keep out of precious little eyes.  order here:

Rub coconut oil onto your dog's coat 2 x per week

Coconut oil is amazing to use on your Dog's coat!  Love this~~

Thanks, Dr. Julie for the tips   (Dr. Julie C. Reyes, DC),

Coconut oil can be used to Brush your Dog's teeth and gums.  Just use your finger and massage it onto the teeth and gums 2 times per week.
Coconut oil can be used as a natural topical lotion for especially itchy, dry or damaged skin, we use virgin coconut oil mixed with pure lavender essential oil. We rub this mixture right onto their “hot spots” and it provides our dogs with immediate relief. The lavender also has a calming effect.
RUB on your hands and work onto your dog.
We use coconut oil on our Dogs coats 2 x per week.

You can use it with or without lavender oil for the coat.  We apply the solution to our hands and then massage into the Dog's skin and work under the coat.

Directions for mixing the coconut oil and lavender oil based upon the size of your dog:
Extra Small Dogs up to 10 lbs:
1 drop of Lavender oil in 4 Tbsp Coconut oil
Small Dogs up to 25 lbs:
2 drops Lavender oil in 5 Tbsp Coconut oil
Medium Dogs up to 40 lbs:
3 drops Lavender oil in 6 Tbsp Coconut oil
Large Dogs up to 70 lbs:
4 drops Lavender oil in 7 Tbsp Coconut oil
Extra Large Dogs up to 90 lbs or more:

NOTE: We use only high-quality Lavender oil. Pure essential oils are highly concentrated, powerful in small doses (only one drop!) and economical, too.
Need help with Essential oils?  DR. Janet Roark  is happy to assist you with a professional consultation via telephone or in person for Texas residents, Contact me here  http://essentialoilvet.com/consult/
